This week is Nightline Awareness Week (14 – 19 November). This is a national event run by all Nightline groups across the UK, to help raise awareness of the work they do around student mental health.

It’s now well into the first semester and work will be piling up for everyone across the university. This can be a stressful time for students and it’s these tough times where Nightline is here to help you through. Whether deadlines are getting to you, you’re having problems with flatmates, or are just feeling down, Nightline are here to listen.

If you have any problems – this week or otherwise – feel free to call the Nightline team on Tel: +44(0)23 8059 5236 or talk online using our instant messenger app’.

The team are here for you every night in term time between 20:00 – 08:00.

We will be on the concourse in building 42 on Highfield campus from 10:00 – 16:00 on Saturday 19 November, so come along and say hello if you’re around.

Easter closure 2016

With the end of the Spring Term approaching, we can confirm that Nightline will be closing for the Easter break at 8am on Saturday 19th March, reopening at 8pm on Monday 18th April.  During this period, any calls to our phone will be unanswered and you will hear our usual answer message, giving details of alternative support services.

For any administrative queries, the Nightline Officer will be contactable throughout the Easter closure by email (nightlineofficer@soton.ac.uk) however this inbox will be monitored less regularly than during term time, so responses will be slower.

We would like to wish all students a pleasant Easter break.

Christmas closure

As the Autumn Term ends, Nightline will be closing for the Christmas break at 8am on Saturday 12th December.  We will then reopen for the Spring Term at 8pm on Monday 4th January 2016.  During this period, any calls to our phone will be unanswered and you will hear our usual answer message, giving details of alternative support services.  These will also be displayed prominently on our website.

For any administrative queries, the Nightline Officer will be contactable throughout the Christmas closure by email (nightlineofficer@soton.ac.uk) however this inbox will be monitored less regularly than during term time, so responses will be slower.

We would like to wish all students a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Disruption on Monday 2nd November

Due to maintenance work on the university telephony network taking place in the evening on Monday 2nd November, we will be running a reduced service that night.

We will run the online chat service from 8pm-1am as usual, however at the start of the evening our phone will be offline and so unable to take calls.  We will open it as soon as we can, but this may not be until around 9pm.  We will post a message on Facebook and Twitter once the phone line is open.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
